Blue Skies

Well, well, well.
Look what I found
You got it.  I'm back in business.

Once again,  I know...you know... that these are not my colors.
But, I have a family wedding coming up this fall.

And these are the IRVING Groom {step nephew} and Brides colors.

How do I know this?

Well, she registered for towels, comforters and sheets in these colors.

So, as always along with some goodies, funds and wedding cheer I always send a blanket for them to stash in the closet.  Yes, I know that is where these end up, but at least it's a little something personal from us.
Yeah, like Mr Scooter has anything to do with this......well, I guess he does.....he gets the bill from Knitpicks for the pricey Chroma Yarn.  They have to be good for something, right.  And he has been off the hook for those bills for quite a while here.

Believe it or not I have a name....

BLUE SKIES
{IRVING berlin}

Isn't that perfect.  The family name on this side is

IRVING
and
IRVING BERLIN
wrote BLUE SKIES.

So there you have it.

Also, that's just what we are having..... lots and lots of
BLUE SKIES.

Oh, and HOT HOT HOT HEAT Too.

I've spend most of my time right now.
Watering, Watering, Watering.

Even, my BLUE BIRD has seen better days out in the beds.

I'm still getting a few things to bloom here.

The Daylilies are out and along with the Bee Balm.

We shall see how long they last.
I'm taking those who offered some of their rain up on that brilliant exchange.
I will send you some sun and heat, if you send me some clouds and drops.

Just a heads up,  the BLIND WARS here have began.
I got up this morning and headed to the kitchen for a little coffee.

Oh, man, he was at it again.  All the blinds on the west side of the house were already down and ready for the 98 degrees predicted here this afternoon.
GRrrrrrrrr....and grumble-grumble

I just like to look out a the gardens first thing in the morning.
Does he think I don't know how to lower them in the late afternoon when the sun is on this side of the house.
I hate when I start my day with an eye-roll.

Well, I'll go show him.

Off I go to hit the A.C. down to 70, or maybe even 68.

Then it's back to working on my

BLUE SKIES

Hi Kate, so nice to see your name pop up to the top of my blog list! What a wonderful blanket gift you're making! I am sure it will be appreciated and in a place of honor in their home. Handcrafted things are gaining a lot of value in today's world. Do they read your blog? ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

The colors are soft and lovely, and your blanket will be greatly appreciated. It would look nice displayed on the back of a sofa.
Stay cool.

I like the colors and how you combined the colors in the different squares. I'm sure they will love it. We'll be getting your hot weather starting tomorrow. UGH! It's suppose to be 99 here on Thursday. That's awful. And humid too. UGH again. Well, I better go water my flowers so they don't die on me. I'm still waiting for our landscaping guys to get quotes back to us. I love your yard it is so pretty.

Blind wars...ha ha ha. I WISH mine knew how to ward off the heat of the day by keeping the blinds closed! I'm THE ONLY savvy being in this house when it comes to those details! And starting the day with an eye roll...it's my breakfast of champions! Oh heck...mine roll all day long for one reason or another. I LOVE the name of your beautiful creation! THAT IS...indeed...perfectomundo! I should like a blanket of those colors for MY closet! But it wouldn't be in the closet at my house. We have granny squared creation of my MIL's - rolled and stashed atop the back of our sofa. It is SO old and worn that is has felted on its own. But we still use it! Every color in the rainbow...on black...a definite stash buster. It's a lovely legacy of her...may she rest in peace. I hope "Blue Skies" is used to such an extent that it too becomes felted by wear and brings happy smiles to all! Hugs, Annette

I love the colors of that afghan. Very pretty combination. Our a/c doesn't go off much these days. I had to clean the air vents in each room. What a mess. It was like cleaning a chimney. All this powdery black soot like stuff was falling down. Yuck! Have a great week. Tammy

Oh, I love the song, "Blue Skies" you had playing when I clicked on your blog! Just perfect with your Blue Skies afghan. Love that.

Don't sell your beautiful afghan short. A lot of people love afghans....in fact, I bet they use this more than you'll ever know and every time they do, they smile and think of you. Trust me...long after all their other gifts are used and gone...yours will remain, along with a warm spot in their hearts. :)

Lovely photos are always.

Blessings always :)

Hee-hee-hee...battle of the blinds. That's funny. You can keep your heat. We have plenty of our own, but at least we're getting rain every now and then. No watering here yet. I don't have all the pretty plants you do either though. As long as I get a rose or two, I'm happy. Man, you are fast with that blanket! How did you do that so fast? I'm am so not into my crochet the past week or so. Nap time here.

Yep! 68º should get him. Kate, you are too funny. But, thank you for letting me know I'm not the only gal with eye-rolls.
Tickles my heart to see you hooking once more.
Brights are more my style, as you may know. Your wedding gift is so thoughtful.

Oh stop being mean to poor old Scooter! He's trying to save you some work so you won't have to stop crocheting and go around and close the blinds. He'll be saying to himself " I try to help and all I get is grief !!!"
Cheers
PS. I can't STAND having curtains or blinds closed myself. Love to be able to see the outside!

Hi Kate! So nice to see you posted! And wow...when did you whip that afghan out? You are so darn fast!!! It is beautiful, and the bride and groom are sure to love it. Let's hope they do not stash it in a closet!!
You are hot, hot alright. We are still on the mild side, but will be blazing by 4th of July!! My husband would never bother to shut the shutters! He leaves all that jazz up to me!!!]
Hugs,
Kris

Oh my friend I have missed you! Your garden looks so lovely. We have had nothing but RAIN all spring long. My garden is soooooo wet and yucky.
I adore the colours are your blanket..take care! HUGS

Stinking hot here too Kate. We were lucky to have a nice rain 2 days in a row, on and off heavy rain showers with soft drizzle in between. Now maybe on my day off I will be able to go out and pull some weeds. We need to mulch again and the weeds are taking advantage of that. They thrive no matter how hot and dry it is.

You have such beautiful plants and your music is delightful today :'] I just want to know, how do you keep the weeds out of your beds. They are so neat and clean! I love your hard work with your garden....wish I had some like those to tend to.
Your blanket is lovely too, you little fast creator you. I have a wedding coming too in Nov. I was thinking of something plain in a creamy white so it will match with anything. Hope you have a good weekend dear, we are looking at a tropical storm in the Gulf coming our way. I know it will at least cool us off...the heat, oh the heat!

Hi Kate...don't know what happened but haven't kept up with you recently and I just love the colours and loved your holiday picks. Looking at your Blue Sies made me so envious! I'm just learning how to crochet and nearly completed my second round square last night....I had to take it out so many times as I made mistakes. You make it seem so easy and yours are glorious!
