I'm just popping in to say Hi to you.

I have some left-over yarn from my wrist warmers. So while, I wait for my dyeing yarn to arrive.

I decided to whip up this little bear last night.

While, I'm not sure of his final resting place, he is enjoying a bit of the sun that is out today.

Can you believe we will be close to 60 here today.

That my friends is unheard of in February in the Windy City.

I'm guessing someplace down in the sun room or what has become my yarn stash room.

Can you believe it?

I still have one last Christmas Owl to hand out.

You remember where it's going right?

Up the stairs, past bridzilla.

I thinks she will be rather cute.

Plopped right down at the foot of my childhood bed.

We are finally getting together this weekend.

Well, that's it for today.

But, for now, I"m off to find a skein and see what other little project I can come up with while I wait.

I think I've figured it out.

You see.....we are both on a diet.

Last night was Mexican

It's the new EVOO around this house.

After watching this video I was off to Whole Foods.

It made total sense to help get those cholesterol numbers back in line.

My SIL, Liz was using this over the holidays for Tyler's, Gluten-Free diet.

I know your question.....flavor?.....barely at all.

And Mr. S even is looking forward to his salmon sauteed with this.

So, here's the deal.

It's been a tough start back for me in the new year.

So this morning I took a stroll back to see just what I was blogging about last year.

WoW... amazing....

I had the same LITTLE CUTIES for breakfast this morning.

Oh, that's right we have a birthday boy in the house this weekend.

I better get whipping on that CARROT CAKE today.

Oh.......now I get it.

This is what's been missing.

I was DYEING YARN last winter.

That's what I need to do.

Silly me. I haven't done this in a while.

That's it. I'm off to order up some dye-ing yarn from

It will be perfect for my next pair of gloves.

Because, if you can imagine, living here in the Windy City.

Most of us, do have more than one coat or jacket.

And that means we need a scarf, pair of mittens and hat for each.

There you go. I'm off to a much better start today.

I can stop feeling all weepy eyed and boo-hoo-ie.

Just wanted to give you a peek at where my

SHINING STAR

stands.

It's coming along nicely, but to be honest the jury is still out.

These rows just keep getting longer and longer.

Also, that I'm going to take a break from it today before finishing the last 5 rows and border.

I need to whip me up some finger-less gloves as mentioned.

My fingers are getting cold outside when I take pictures.

I've also been trying out some of the "other" PICNIK options here.

In combination with Photo Shop and BeFunky, I can do some framing again and shadowing

to my pictures. Do I love? I think you know the answer to that question.

I have completely made the switch to Google Chrome and all the other issues seem to have gone away.

But, between you and me, I'm doing my research now on moving to WordPress.

I have a real thing about "big brother" taking over and making us use something.

Plus, they are not doing a very good job of advising us of these changes.

How long did it take for "US" to figure out you need to be on Google Chrome,

for the whole commenting issues to go away.

Well, I'm off and running today.

Time to pick up.

But, my goal this week is not to stress the blog stuff.

I'm going to take it one step at a time.

Stepped Out

Today, we stepped out for a "brief" while

to see what we could see and have a fresh air walk.

In the 8 inches of Friday Snow.

For the first time this winter

the sleigh rides were rolling.

As they came around the bend back to the barn.

I could tell these two we a little tired, out of shape and ready to call it a day.

Are you kidding me?

We have to go again?

Who are these crazy Chicagoan who are out in the misty icey weather.

I mean this can't be good for my cheeks.

No wonder I have a little problem with the red rosey.

Well, thank goodness they didn't stay long.

But here you just can't keep them inside.

Even on a bleak white {gray} day.

They are out and about. Sledding, Skating and even some Ice Fishing.

That's just how we roll.

And finally....

Yes, I'm going to tell you right now.

I am not happy AT ALL.

I've been in mourning all weekend.

I am a wee bit angry at Google.

First, it was switching to Google Chrome.

I am not at all happy with Google +.

I am going to miss my PICNIK so bad.

I've tried a few of the others out there and they just don't hold a candle to this one.

I can only keep my fingers crossed that this so called CREATIVE KIT will

get the borders and framing options.

I think that's the part I'm going to miss the most.

Sorry, but I had to go crazy with them today to get my last fix.

Tomorrow I'm going to find me some wonderful variegated yarn

and whip me up some finger-less gloves.

That will be just the ticket for keeping my fingers warm while snapping away.

And maybe, just maybe I will stop moping around.

So, for now I'm off to find me some color and a pattern.

Well, isn't that just the icing on the cake for me this Friday.

I loved PICNIK for my photo editing.

So, besides shoveling tomorrow. I will be figuring this all out.

Please let me know if you have found another alternative, as I will for you.

But, the GOOD NEWS today is.....no skin cancer.

I do officially have ROSECEA on my cheeks.

And he removed a few "tags", but other than that.

Pretty good news, considering I was a Speedo wearing, baby oiled kid at the pool for most of my childhood.

White Winter

It's always nice to be back home.

We sure had a nice relaxing time up north.

It did prove to be a

WHITE WINTER

just over the state line into Wisconsin.

But..... it was rather hard to find a smidgen of color across the landscape.

Our little weekend get-a-way was more about

RELIEVING the FATIGUE

and just relaxing.

There was more than enough

WINTER WHITE

for me to know quickly that this journey wasn't going to be about

taking a lot of pictures.

We did return yesterday with recharged batteries.

And that's the good news, as right now the

Sleet-ie-, Ice-ie, Drizzle-ie, Flake-ie,

weather is moving into the area.

I'm sure glad we are not on the road today.

I'm sure glad to be back in the comfort of my snuggl-ie warm house.

I'm sure glad I decided to pick up where I left off.

Now, this my friends, is the perfect way to start my morning......

That is....after I have a hop around to see what you all have been up to.

And of course, finish the laundry too.

Here's what I learned too....

Always check your laptop before you leave.

I realized that I had not loaded up GOOGLE CHROME or GOOGLE READER yet.

Which proved to me was one of the issues I was having a while back.

That will be on the check list for my next vaca, which will be coming soon.

Of course, this time I will be heading south.

South to the Sunny Beaches.

But, where that will be and who I may see, I'll save for another time.

For now, it's time to check the freezer to see what soup I have for our dinner tonight.

Yeap, it's going to be a soup night with snow predicted all day.

The last of the blankets for my Nephews and Niece.

You remember, ORPHAN ANNIE, this pattern and blanket was for Avs.

Which by the way, I my most frequently visited post yet to date.

Avery is my favorite niece {only}, she is the one I'm teaching the fine art of crochet too.

That is when I can get with her and she is off the LaCrosse Field or not on stage preforming her latest role in the local theater.

Or remember, BEE's KNEES, who I made this past summer for, D.

I was really quite fun to dye LAX into a blanket in his school colors.

That is until I found out he was changing schools this fall.

And now, that last one to be made for a birthday treat.

T-MAN

as he likes to be called.

What a special guy.

My nephew Tyler struggles with AUTISM.

He holds a very special place in my heart.

I know he is my SHINING STAR.

Which of course will be the name of my next endeavor.

I owe a big thanks to a few of you who have helped me out of the

HOLIDAY FOG and have been my other shining stars.

First, to TERESA and KRIS-SIMPLIFY,

who have been keeping me going playing into the wee hours of the night,

3Fs- Fabulous Family Fun

What a 3F's, we had

FABULOUS FAMILY FUN

We are finally back home.

Let me just take a moment and share a

FAMILY PORTRAIT LIVE

of all that wonderful memories we all have.

From the first moments of arrival, FINALLY.

It was a 32 hours trip.

We were off and having a blast, with quite a few laughs.

With the fresh first big snow of DENVER.

A family SNOWMAN building was in the cards.

Then it was off for the big

80Th Birthday Celebration.

{p.s. we were a hit, with our ODE to BOB}

After a big evening of wonderful food and celebration.

A morning of activities was underway.

Nothing like hitting the rink for a lap or two.

Me.... I was in charge of Hot Chocolate and taking a picture or two.

While Christmas Eve dinner was underway in the kitchen.

The kids old and young, all took to the

DENVER BOTANICAL GARDENS

for a brisk chilly walk through their wonderful light show.

And how could you not end the evening with a visit from

GRANDPA BOB CLAUS

and a visit for his GRAND KIDS.

Then, after opening gift, Christmas Day Dinner got underway.

GRAND MA JONI was not one to let us just sit around.

She always has a game or bag of tricks up her sleeve for after our tummies were full.

DISTANCE MARSHMALLOW SHOOTER

Can you believe it?

As I was one in the kitchen doing the dishes I heard all the commotion from the other room

My Scooter was the winner. He shoot his marshmallow clear out the front door and half way down the sidewalk. But, then I already knew he was FULL of HOT AIR.

Note: I swear we were doing dishes like, forever.

22 people can produce a lot of glasses.

I finally cut the kids off from getting a new one each time they wanted a drink, about 9 o'clock.

I estimate that we cleaned well over 122 glasses alone that evening.

As you can imagine.....yes....

THE SUNDANCE KID

was a big hit.

The colors of my 80 circles were DENVER perfect too.

And yes.....my favorite niece Avery and I found a little hookie time too.

I was amazed at just how much she remembered from last Turkey Day.

Did I mention, Joni always has something up her sleeve to keep us busy.

There's no lolly-gagging around here.

Before, we could have dinner. It was

ORNAMENT PAINTING TIME

She had set up a canvas with a TREE to paint.

and you didn't get your dinner

until upon that tree an ORNAMENT you did paint.

Our time was also filled with a

CHRISTMAS CAROL

or two.

With Avery on the IVORIES and the other KATE on the Strings.

I was amazed at their music talent, which made my heart sing.

Of course, the evening could not end with out a little story-telling

from good old UNCLE JACK. He's my dad's old brother

and for a perfect memory he does not lack.

As the kids gathered around he told from his heart

the good old story about SAM MCGHEE

We were simply amazed that he did not miss a word or a bet

and not with a sheet paper once did he cheat.

So, as you can see a

3 F's

was had by all.

The memories of classics moments will be with us forever.

It was so nice to see this

FABULOUS FAMILY FUN

to be had by all.

And as you can see, I'm not the only one

with a crazy imagination and a good heart-ed soul.

So, that's it at this wee little peek into our family fun.

And this I can promise you, I will be spending the rest of the week.

So......Here's how latest saga from The G.B.

on traveling at the holidays.

If it's not one thing....it's another.

Today has been officially wiped of my calender.

This is how it went down this afternoon.

So, I got a good nap from 11am till about 1pm, after being up since 4am to the airport and back home again.

Came into the office see what's going on......

Scott came in like three times asking me to come watch "This Old House"

About how to wrap a furnace.

I kindly replied, "No, Thanks"

S- "Would you like me to make a salad?"

K- "No, I don't want the kitchen all messed up, so NO".

S- "Damn, Damn, Damn.....{from the other room}

K- "What happened?"

S- "I sliced my finger tip off".

K- " What did you not understand about, PLEASE don't make a salad."

S- " I was making a CUCUMBER SALAD, not a SALAD.

More bickering and eye rolling....

Off to URGENT CARE.

Line about 2 hours long.

K- "Call me at home when you are done"

S- " I forgot my phone"

K- " Here take mine and call me at home"

S- " Can you bring me back my KINDLE, so I have something to read here."

K - " Seriously, you want me to go home in this rain and make another trip back here, so you have something to do"

K- "You have plenty to do here......like think about listening to your wife next time"

Can I just wipe this day off the calendar.

Who knows what they will be doing for him at UC. But, I for one am going into the kitchen and throw all this salad stuff right out.

It's time for my Year in Review.

Some Garden Bell Moments.

I'm getting this out early, as we have some unforeseen circumstances to take care of before

the Holidays are here and we fly away to the mountains and a quite busy time with family.

As I scrolled through my albums,

many I remember from the long winter of 2011,

to some of the laughs and giggles and crazy tales I told along the way.

I thought why not share a few and let the photos do the talking.

I can't express enough...the joy each and everyone of you have brought me through this past year.

I have learned so much about myself and value our friendships beyond what words can express.

I still love this car that was a boat and drove right off out of the water.

Thank goodness, this beast is gone and had arrived in Tampa for the BIL.

Minding My Own Bee's Wax

This morning I got up and was intent on minding my own

BEE's WAX

Thinking of all the things I wanted to get done today.

I batch of

CHRISTMAS CUPCAKES

which had been put on the back burner for a while needed to be whipped up.

Then there it was

BACK IN THE CORNER of my MIND

Why get up and do that!

The fog of the last few days of chaos was starting to lift.

That little voice was saying to me.

What if?

What are you going to put on the bottom of this OWL.

mmmmmm....

You really don't want to cook those CUPCAKES today, do you?

Shut up, little voice in my head.

Don't even think about it. You don't even have a pattern to follow.

Well, let's just give it a try. Sure enough, I figured one out.

Oh, no you don't. Don't even go there, stay on track.

Please, I was minding my own BEE's WAX this morning all jammied up.

Well, what if you made two and then stitched them together.

See, look over at your little tree on the island.

There's a SWEET SPOT, that's open space that's missing something.

But, I really really, want to get to the hair.

That's the fun part to attach. All those curly-cues

And besides, I need to get the other eye stitched on.

Please, please little voice. Stop getting me off track.

OH......No......, please say it isn't so.

You are NOT going to the craft room for some beads.

Oh, yes, I am. They need a few SPRINKLES.

Finally, I found the perfect bags to send my

Just look at the cute OWLS on the bags.

Oh, and by the way, I missed the picture of the hats all covered up with my tablecloth.

But, yes, it's about 4am and I'm doing my packing now.

It's nice and quiet and I have some time to think.

Before, we start in on collecting 80yrs of photos.

What a task. First, I had to FIND good ones in my boxes of photos.

Yes, I have many, many boxes. It seems..... I'm the keep of the pics.

And it seems I was not very organized either.

All I have to say is thank goodness for
DIGITAL.

Scanning 80yrs. of pictures can be quite the task.

While, my fabulous, SIL, Liz was working on the tribute POEM.

I had some time to put together a few last gifts for the boxes.

I think these will be for my Step-Mom, Joni. the chef.

And the one for my Dad's Pub area has all the family cocktails.

You know how the kids are always wondering just what's for dinner.

Well now, we all will know.

The challenge was sneaking around and finding out the menu without a big slip.

And Joni, always has a few tricks and surprises up her sleeves.

Come to think it of, it must run in the family.

And beside, I thought these would be fun frames for here to have

after the big gathering. To display some of what I'm guessing will be

rare, classic, in the moment laugh out loud situations.

That's sort of how we all roll.

And by the way, the tribute is turning out.

I'm sure there will be some side splitting family chuckles.

I guess there is something about our laughs that is DISTINCT.

Here's how it works.

First, I'll tell you about waking up this morning dreaming about my

BIG RED PYREX BOWL

You know the one that Scooter broke this summer.

I might have neglected to tell you that.

Let's just say..... it wasn't his greatest day.

I must have been dreaming about how perfect this bowl would be for all new new

RED GOODIES.

Yes, I'm in love with CHERRY BOMB RED spray paint.

But, we will have a big show n' tell later.

Any who......

I was up bright and early and had big plans of doing nothing today

but a little hookie time. Maybe, address a card or two. That's a big, MAYBE.

Then it happened.

My phone DINGed.

Did you know I get to see my email on my phone now?

And it's usually the first thing I check in the morning, to see all those overnight comments.

So, sure enough I had a few.

And you know they never go unappreciated. It's how I like to start my day with a cuppa Joe too.

I do love to hear a shout-out or two, it let's me know this is all worthwhile.

After reading them all. Each and every word with a giggle or maybe quite a few chuckles.

I heard another DING.

Quick run up to get some coffee, pop into Walgreens for a few items.

Run by the "other" G.W..... ok, so there was a line at that door too.

Who are these early bird shoppers for the sales.

By the way, there were 12 ANGRY MEN in line at the G.W., seriously.

OK, back to stand in line at the door of the house.

Yes, I was eyeballing the five before me

to see if they were after the same treasure as me.

The guy behind me was not a threat, after talking to Number 7, he was after the piano.

I was concerned about the 5 in front. Do they love TEAL?

Let me give them the G.B. eyeball and spook them.

Now, I get the whole pepper spray thing we heard about.

But, I wasn't going to give up.

It was now my mission.

Thanks goodness, we were finally let in.

This will be the last time I do anything like this so early in the day.

After mad dash directly beeline-ing to the kitchen.

But, yes.... it was a SUCCESS

It is now mine and all mine.

Who cares how much it cost, it was in my hand.

Scooter is not allowed to touch this one.

And look at this other charmer for a buck.

So, as I was trying to drift off into slumber land last night.

You see this plate rack that's been in my kitchen, since....well,....like forever.

It's been bugging me.

Even though the days of growing my hair long seem very dim now.

I just can't seem to let go of them.

Now, these guys are going to take a little more thought process

on how we are going to dress them up for the holidays.

I did crawl out from under the covers just long enough

to grab my PEOPLE and head back in to check out

the Sexiest Man Alive.

I know... I should have been reading some fancy decorating magazine, but

a girls gotta do what a girls got to do.

And I need a few minutes of mindless gawking to refurbish my soul.

Because, guess what we are going on Saturday

You got it an all day FIELD TRIP.

Now, don't go and get to excited.

Thinking I'm taking you down to Michigan Ave, to see the decorations.

The last dishes are now done.

It's all put away and all our tummy's are full to the brim.

Lots of football for the boys.

Now, it seems like a whirlwind blew through the house and there were only four of us.

And I"m really ready to crash,

I don't really know why I'm out here in blog land. I must be still a little jazzed.

I did finally sat down and blindly starred at the T.V. for a few

and caught the GaGa Thanksgiving.

A girls gotta do, what a girls gotta do, while that last dishwasher load is running.

I can't go to bed until it's all put away.

Besides, we have had enough football in this house all day.

When I opened the door and saw all the Christmas presents arriving I went into a little bit of a panic.

Scott and I will be in Denver this year with my Dad to celebrate his 80th.

Phew.... glad I have that done.

But, I had to think quickly.

Up to the gift stash I ran... literally two stairs at a time, as the turkey needed some basting.

It would be perfect for my Mom.

She is still a realtor at 77.

The MESSENGER BAG was a big big hit.

She loved and adored it.

I can only wish I will be like this at that age.

But,... you know that chances of that are kind of slim.

I learn how to make gravy with my grandpa, Kenny when I was about 5.

All us grand kids just called him Kenny, as that was his name.

And the oldest cousin did, so it just stuck.

And I got my gravy genes from him.

Which is probably, not a good thing either.

But, you do only live once.

Last night around midnight, I was still sort of in that panic about the whole stuffing thing.

As I have mentioned, S and I are usually the travelers at both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

So, when I do make turkey here I only get the Jennie-O turkey breast, as we like the white meat.

This stuffing thing was really worrying me until I popped over

to see what KRIS was up to.

So, this year it's all about the

NUMBER FOUR

As, in letting you all know I'm moving right along with my

RAT PACK of GRINCH OWLs

I just couldn't leave Scooter Grinch all by himself.

So, I do have the rest of the gang moving right along.

As I said, FOUR is the number of the year.

Did you know that FOUR is my favorite number? Do you have a favorite number?

Any who, FOUR is the number I'm having here for Turkey.

This will be the first year that the "official" turkey torch has been passed to me.

Usually, we are down in Florida with Scoots family, all 28-32 mind you.

But, this year we are home. Which is kind of nice, actually.

But, here's the thing..... if you are doing it all. It doesn't matter whether it's for FOUR

or 32. It's involves FINDING and getting ready a lot of "STUFF".

Thank goodness, my SILVER was stashed where I thought it was.

You see, in my generation, we still registered for this "Stuff" when we got married 20 years ago.

Between, you and me it hasn't really seen the light of day much.

We usually end up to be the one's who travel to visit family.

But, it sure does look nice.

But.......

It did need a good cleaning last night.

So, while I was watching DWTS, I was busy cleaning away.

{thrilled that Karina won her first and enjoyed both J.R. and Rob}

Do you know this trick?

Line a pan with foil, shiny side up.

Add WATER, Bring to Simmer, drop in some Baking Soda.

Add Silver and Simmer for about 10 minutes.

A few Antique Pieces may need a little longer.

Tarnish gone, lickity-split.

Remove and Rinse with Luke Warm Water

And buffer with a dry cloth.

Don't panic if you see this White Film.

It comes off in the rinse.

Moving right along.

The napkins are all folded and in their rings ready to go.

After working my way through college as a waitress with

CORK and CLEAVER

I do know how to fold a napkin.

My other trick is cleaning the CRYSTAL.

{yes, another must register for}

Boil a pan of water

Hold over the steam

Wipe down with dry cloth.

{new cloth diapers are the best, sorry to be that honest, but...}

No Windex, please

Here's the thing.

I do not and for the life of me and can not

figure out why I picked this CHINA pattern.

To be honest, 20 years later, it's SO NOT is me.

Oh, well. Who really cares about their china pattern these days anyways.

The fresh CRANBERRIES are done.

The RASPBERRY/BLUEBERRY APPLESAUCE JELLO

was done last night too.

That's an easy one.

2 Small boxes of Raspberry Jello, add on pack KNOX gelatin

Dissolve in 1 1/2 cups boiling water.

Chill a smidge while watching Rickie and Derek get the boot.

Stir in one jar of APPLESAUCE {30oz.}

One box of Raspberries

One box of BlueBerries.

Pour into BELL Jello Mold.

Oh, that's right. I looked for over an hour and could not for the life of me, find mine.

So, I just

Sprayed up with PAM, a bunt mold I did find and poured it in.

We shall see if it comes up.

So, before I make the STUFFING

I just might have to go work attaching some more GRINCH EYES

I have to make two batches, one in a casserole and one for the bird in the A.M.

Yes, I have heard, don't stuff until the morning. No pre-stuffing.

IMPORTANT QUESTION

Can I make the Mash Potatoes today or do I have to wait till tomorrow?

And of course, I have a little light cleaning

over in my crochet corner to pick up.

I wouldn't want my Mom to freak out and not have it spotless.

She already gives me that look of horror

when she see that BARKO Lounger that I have taken over from

Scooter. It has seen it's better days, but it is so comfy.

It so is not Mom approved.
